Troubleshooting Guide

Many of the problems we encounter here at OptimizePress support can be easily fixed in just a few minutes.  This guide is designed to help you troubleshoot and solve any problems you encounter without having to wait for our support team to get back to you.

Before you start this process, we always recommend searching our knowledgebase first as many questions can be answered instantly here: Search the knowledgebase

Step 1
Check you are running the most up to date OptimizePress, OptimizeMember and Wordpress

  • You need to check that you are running the latest versions of our platform and also Wordpress.  OptimizePress requires Wordpress 3.6 or above
  • The latest version of OptimizePress is 2.5.1.1 - please ensure you are running the latest version
  • If you are running OptimizeMember, the latest version is 1.2.0

You should also ensure your server meets the minimum requirements for running OptimizePress as detailed here

Step 2
Check for plugin and theme incompatibilities

Occasionally other themes and plugins can conflict with the OptimizePress platform. Usually these conflicts are either styling conflicts, or Javascript conflicts.  Unfortunately we cannot guarantee compatibility with every theme and plugin available for Wordpress (there are over 20,000) so we would ask that you check if this is the issue before getting in touch.

If you are using the OptimizePress Theme version, go to Plugins > and disable all plugins. You can reactivate plugins by going to the Recently active tab after you have tested your site with plugin disabled

If you are using the OptimizePress Plugin version, go to Appearance > Themes and then activate one of the default Wordpress themes (you will normally see these listed as Twenty Ten, Twenty Eleven, Twenty Twelve, Twenty Thirteen).  This will deactivate your theme.  Now test your issues again and if they are now fixed, your Theme is the cause of the issues and is incompatible with OP2.

You can also find a list of incompatible theme and plugins here (note that if your plugin is not listed this does not mean it is definitely tested or compatible with OptimizePress)

Step 3
Check our listing of known issues and bugs

We do our best to ensure OptimizePress is as bug free as possible, however we do sometimes discover little bugs or glitches in the system and work to get these resolved as fast as possible.

We keep a listing of known bugs in the current version of the platform and usually fix these in the next release.  Check this listing here
